This week on the Kinjaz PodKast we have the Super Talented Singer/Songwriter and overall great human being, AJ Rafael.

He goes in deep sharing personal stories from childhood and relationships and gives us the low down on what it was like in the YouTube 1.0 era.  We gotta give it up to AJ for enduring all the hardship he faced and PROPS for killing it in 2018!

ENJOY!

Right right because we have to be intentional with our energy now, as we get older, because we won’t have all the energy to do all these things.  You know what I mean, its crazy to think that I am an older person, like when I think back, like I still feel very youthful and stuff ya know, but I do ya know, what you were saying earlier I have been thru a ton so like what I really wanna do is just share that with people and let them know that like they’re not alone in that, whether it is like losing a parent, being the man of the house,  or being an independent entrepreneur or whatever you know all these little things you know I think we all—-that’s part of my purpose so  I feel like I’m gonna be able to do that for the rest of my life so I feel like I’m still meant to live on this earth.  So whether I discover new things or not in different musical ways or whatever so…

Balance between quality and consistency

Consistency wins on any platform because that platform whether its YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter…they want you to be on that app forever, and they want your users to stay on that app.  So like the algorithms will work in a way where they see you being consistent they’re gonna put your video at the top of the search results they’re gonna make it more relevant to the users who are watching you, you know what I mean — its all about the attention rate too, so they can see, you can see yourself, if you look on your YouTube channel, how long people are watching and stuff matters.   So what I learned with all these videos, even the light on a certain part of my face and us taking an hour to figure out the lights doesn’t matter to some people.  You know what I mean, I learned little things that, where its like people just want to see content, but then there were those projects where I was like I really do care about the lights about the way the light goes on this because this is a track that I recorded that is a cover that means a lot to me…

The pull between quality and consistency, that when I realized its always going to be there, and you have to pick and choose your battles.  You know what I mean and its like, care about the videos you want to care about, you know what I mean, cuz some of the ones that and even some of the ones you don’t care about are the ones that are gonna go viral.  Like the one that got the most hits in that month was this video where we lost the footage of 2 other angles.  And were all like ah shit all we have is this diagonal footage lets just put it out anyways. And we put it out, 6 million views!

GOLDEN RULE

To get to know somebody and get to understand their way of communication whether thats their love language or finding out what that is.

If you are considerate of the way a certain person communicates and you try to put yourselves in their shoes and you communicate it in that way then the world would be a better place theoretically and you finding that peace with each other you can have that respect for each other whether it ends on a good note or not.
